Amsterdam, October 2025 — After 80 years of innovation and craftsmanship, Nihot is taking a major step forward. We’re proud to announce that in June 2026, all our activities will come together under one roof in a state-of-the-art, sustainable facility in Amsterdam. This facility will also be the new home for all European sales and service activities for Max-AI robot sorters, NRT optical sorters and BHS equipment and systems. BHS Europe provides a one stop solution for waste handling system design, service, and production across Europe. Bringing these brands together under one roof creates an unmatched synergy of expertise, technology, and customer service — all within the BHS family of brands.

A Legacy of Innovation

Nihot’s story began in 1945, when we opened our first factory in Amsterdam. In 1961, we moved to our current location — a place where ideas took shape, products were born, and industry milestones were achieved.
Throughout the decades, Nihot has remained at the forefront of air separation technology, helping customers around the world achieve cleaner, more efficient recycling processes.

The result of our continued growth we’ve proudly expanded our capabilities with a second production site in 2023. Building on that momentum we’re taking the next big step to support the expansion of technology and services offered to our customers.

A New Home for Innovation and Sustainability

Our new facility in Amsterdam is designed to bring every aspect of Nihot under one roof — from research and development to engineering, testing, and manufacturing. By consolidating our existing two production locations, we are creating a fully modernized, purpose-built manufacturing and office facility, realized through a built-to-suit redevelopment.

Sustainability is at the heart of the design:

  • Fully electric (gas-free) operation
  • Solar panels and energy-efficient LED lighting
  • Energy label A certification
  • Many Electrical Vehicle charging points
  • Nearly energy-neutral performance

What this means for our Customers

The new building has been purpose-built with our customers and the environment in mind. Key benefits include:

✅ Enhanced efficiency – streamlined operations with all departments working together
✅ Focus on innovation – continuous improvement and smarter windshifter solutions
✅ Advanced automation – faster lead times and superior build quality
✅ Sustainable operations – a significant reduction in our ecological footprint
✅ Full in-house production – including Nihot fans, ensuring full control over separation performance
✅ Upgraded testing center – reinforcing our ‘seeing is believing’ philosophy
✅ Committed to Amsterdam – retaining our skilled team and strong local roots

A Major Step Forward

Nihot’s new headquarters marks an important milestone in our journey. The facility will strengthen collaboration, innovation, and operational excellence, enabling us to continue delivering world-leading windshifters and recycling technologies to customers worldwide.

“There are things we want to preserve and things we want to improve. Moving to this new facility is a key step for Nihot to create modern products in a modern way. With a legacy spanning over 80 years, staying current can be challenging, but it is essential for innovation and growth. At the same time, Nihot has proudly been an Amsterdam company since day one, and we intend to stay here — a city that is not only our home but also a fantastic place to welcome customers and partners for business” says Geert Slootweg, Managing Director at Nihot Recycling Technology.

Why we’re relocating
Our move to a new, purpose-built facility is driven by several strategic goals:

  • Supporting Global Growth – With strong international expansion, we need additional workspace and production areas to accommodate new staff and activities.
  • Everything Under One Roof – Consolidating our current two locations creates greater synergy, collaboration, and efficiency.
  • Future-Proof Design – The new facility provides ample space to support growth for years to come, avoiding the need for another relocation.
  • Expanded Activities – Includes a fully equipped, modern testing center to enhance product development.
  • Increased Storage Capacity – More room for stock, materials, and components.
  • Professional Presence – A larger, modern facility reflecting Nihot’s market position.
  • Optimized Efficiency – Modern layout and facilities streamline workflows and production processes.
  • Advanced Automation – The new site allows for setup and further development of automated production.
  • Sustainability & Environment – Solar panels, heat pumps, EV charging stations, and rainwater collection contribute to energy-neutral, eco-friendly operations.

We’re proud to begin this next chapter — one that unites Nihot, NRT, Max-AI, and BHS under a shared vision: building the future of recycling technology, together.

Stay tuned for more updates as we build our new home and prepare for this exciting new chapter!
